How Are We Are Still Perpetuating Hate (Even in 2016)?

It seems like no matter what era we are in, the world is fighting against a cycle of perpetual hate. We are challenged every day to fight against that cycle, and accept others – and ourselves – for the people we are.

Woman Facing Hate as a Personal Challenge Concept

To fight agains the hate, we are forced to be in a constant mode of acceptance; accepting each other for our different backgrounds, cultures, who we choose to love…the list goes on and on.

It seems like it’s been this way from the dawn of human existence. Wars were – and still are – fought over different religious beliefs. People are killed – or severely bullied – for their choice in sexual orientation or gender choices. People are still very, very ignorant.

Isn’t life hard enough on its own without having to defend yourself to others? Without getting slut shammed or skinny shammed or gay shammed or religiously shammed?

You know there’s a problem.

When we live in a world where we can’t even have an intelligent conversation about politics, you know there’s a problem.

When we live in a world where a person who obviously never received much-needed help for their psychological issues decides to take matters into their own hands and end the lives of innocent people for doing something they don’t agree with, you know there’s a problem.

When we live in a world where there is senseless tragedy, you know there’s a problem.

You don’t have to understand; you do have to accept.

You don’t have to agree with what other people do. Hell, you don’t even have to understand it. But you do have to accept it.

You have to accept that we are all born with the basic human right to live however the hell we want to (legally, of course).

I challenge you.

I’m a problem solver. I like to walk away from an issue with a way to solve it. So how do we solve this one?

My solution? More change. More acceptance. And more love.

So I challenge you to do that. Go out into the world and put out as much gosh darn love as you can muster. Go out and make the world a better place…instead of a hateful place. Beat out all the negativity by fill the world with all the positivity you have in your soul.

At the end of the day, we’re all here for each other. And really, when we lose that, then what the hell’s the point?
